Studying in Washington D.C gives communication students the opportunity to explore the role communication plays in politics, news, lobbying, public relations, advocacy and other fields.Washington D.C provides students with special educational opportunities that no other location can replicate. Application for Spring Semester by September 15th

Loyola's semester in Washington D.C. program is open to all Loyola undergraduate students with at least a junior standing. Students will maintain full-time status and be placed in a variety of internships from government, nonprofit, and international offices and organizations. The program runs only during the fall and spring semesters. All courses are taught by Loyola faculty. Students are housed in and take Loyola classes at the Washington Intern Student Housing.

  • Nonprofits: Sound Off, Hope Now, Reading is Fundamental, Meridian International
  • Think Tanks: Brookings, Institute for the Study of War
  • Media Organizations: CSPAN
  • Industry Organizations: Go Rail, PhRMA
  • Government and the Courts: Commerce, State Department, Federal Judicial Center
Curriculum
Internship practicum Monday - Thursday
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
6 credits
Core Internship Seminar taught by the program director, Susan Dimock Every Friday
10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
3 credits
Two additional courses Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday
7 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
6 credits
TOTAL 15 credits
Tuition & Fees
Tuition (15 credits): Students pay the tuition listed for their LUC home college & entering year
Housing Fee (estimated): $4,540 (does not include food)
Program Fee: $1,000
